Final casting for Bravo’s reality series about Chiefs WAGs is still a work in progress.
Between the Kansas City Chiefs becoming the first team in 20 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls, and the storybook romance between tight end Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, the public interest in the franchise is at an all-time high.
The Chiefs’ audience is also not just relegated to the football field. Hallmark’s “Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” which features several players and filmed at Arrowhead Stadium, will premiere on Nov. 30. Lifetime is also developing a movie based on Kelce and Swift’s relationship entitled, “Christmas in the Spotlight.”
With the Chiefs looking to make NFL history by becoming the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, Bravo wants to get in on the action, as well.
A new report revealed the network is currently developing a reality series about Chiefs WAGs, which immediately raised some eyebrows.
People confirmed that Chariah Gordon, Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman’s fiancée, and Sheawna Weathersby, longtime partner of Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, are potential cast members.
“There’s still lots to figure out, including who would be a part of the final cast and whether there’s enough there to build a full series around. It’s very much a work in progress,” a source told the outlet.
Immediately after the news was announced, fans wanted to know whether Taylor Swift or Brittany Mahomes, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, would join the show. Gordon and Weathersby have grown close with Swift over the past year, and the 14-time Grammy winner’s relationship with Brittany is well-known.
While questions swirl over casting, most fans weren’t super hyped about the show.
One fan commented, “No one cares unless Taylor is in it which I don’t think she would want to subject herself to the scrutiny of reality tv.” Another person wrote, “This is a terrible idea. I know who they’re hoping to get, but they won’t.”
One woman posted, “I really don’t think this is a good idea. Bravo TV is MESSSSSYYY. This won’t end well.” One man wrote, “Would crush Hard Knocks in ratings.”
Mahomes and Brittany previously starred in the Netflix docuseries, “Quarterback,” which premiered in 2023. While the show was a success, most quarterbacks declined to participate in a potential season 2, as they didn’t want any extra distractions. The show instead pivoted to “Receiver,” which premiered in July 2024.
